I need to get a new external burner for my computer. I heard that you have to install a separate software. Is this software accessible, or does anyone know anything about them?

Wait, couldn't you just buy a usb cd drive hook it up, and burn from their?

How does that work? Does that require extra software?

It shouldn't, just plug it in, and go. The LG has a good burner where you can just Plugin play; it's kind of expensive, burns DVD's and CD's fast. You should check it out

The only time you'd need to instal something is if windows doesn't recognise your drive you're wanting to use, but that's rare. The only way I'd see that happening is if it was being used on a win 9x machine.

Usually you don't need to install drivers, and if you do, it's just so that windows will recognize the cd drive properly. you should be able to use the standard cd burning software that you would normally use. The drive may come with burning software of its own, but that doesn't mean you have to use it, in fact in most cases you don't even need to install it.
